Rustavi 2 broadcasts in Tbilisi since 1996. In 2003 the company has won General Broadcasting tender on terrestrial broadcasting in the whole territory of Georgia announced by Georgian Communications National Committee. Rustavi 2 got the license and frequencies to work in entire country.
In order to provide high quality signal and enlarge coverage area Rustavi 2 installed new terrestrial transmitters in Tbilisi and regions. Installation of the new equipment and repair works on the most of TV towers have been done. At this stage 85% of Georgian population can receive analog TV signal:
41 transmitters owned by Rustavi 2 company with Rohde & Schwarz, Kvant-Efir and Set (made in Georgia) production equipment are located around Georgia: 7 high power 5-2Kwatt, 21 middle power 250-1500 watts and 9 low power.
Rustavi 2 closely cooperates with local cable and broadcasting companies in mountainous regions of the country where the signal received from our transmitters is unstable
