37 dead and 166 injured - devastating storm attacks Japan

37 dead, 166 injured and 20 person are missing as a result of the typhoon in Japan.

Several cities have been flooded, the population left without electricity.

Authorities have called for more than seven million citizens to be evacuated for security reasons.

Typhoon Haggis has been recognized as the most devastating natural disaster in Japan in the last 60 years. Weather forecasters predict a further rise in the river"s water level, which would increase the amount of damage caused by the disaster.
