Due to the current situation it was decided to restrict free movement of journalists at the border crossing points – MIA

The Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a statement about the measures to prevent possible spread of coronavirus in the country. According to the statement, four countries, including China, South Korea, Iran and Italy, have been designated as the high risk countries by the World Health Organization.

“All the citizens of the third country and the citizens of Georgia, who have visited the high risk countries during the last two weeks. The employees of the border management and coordination department of the patrol police at the Internal Affairs Ministry monitor the passengers arriving from the mentioned countries as well as the passengers, who have traveled to the mentioned states during the last two weeks.

Intensive monitoring of passengers is carried out at the Red Bridge, Sadakhlo, Sarpi and Dariali crossing points, as well as at all three Georgian airports: Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi. In addition, medical workers are constantly mobilized at these checkpoints.

As for other border crossing points, in case a border guard identifies any risk, doctors are called on the ground. They check the passenger and approximate procedures are carried out afterwards.

Due to the current situation, in order to ensure the safety of media representatives, it was decided to restrict free movement of journalists at the border crossing points”, - reads the statement of MIA.
