The President of Georgia apologized to the families of Giorgi Antsukhelidze and Giga Ochtozoria at the event dedicated to the country’s Independence Day.
“From this platform, I would like to address the families of Giorgi Antsukhelidze and Giga Okhtozoria. I, as the Commander-in-Chief of this country, apologize for the insult, which is not only an insult to you, but to the entire country. It is incomprehensible when you blame Europe and America for everything, for the attempt to open a second front, for taking away Georgian identity, for depravity, and yet you allow your own children to live in Europe and America, while destroying the European future for the new generation in Georgia.
Today is the day when we should think about all this, look for a solution and regain hope for the future. Hate speech and confrontation have replaced mutual understanding and respect, this weakens the state. We should also remember Vazha"s other words – “When the castle breaks from the inside, then the enemy wins”. This is where is see the danger of losing our Georgian identity, by our own hands and by our own will”, - said Salome Zourabichvili.
