For years, the Georgian Police has been formed into modern, qualified forces equipped according to the European standards, said the Speaker of the Parliament in his speech at the event dedicated to the Police Day.
“Being a son of a police officer, it is the greatest honor for me to congratulate you upon the Police Day. It is the greatest honor and responsibility to be a police officer and serve to your own homeland and people in an uninterrupted regime for 24 hours a day; you always risk your lives and health to ensure the safety and security of our citizens. For years, the Georgian Police have been formed into modern, qualified forces equipped according to European standards. Georgian police and the law-enforcement system serve as a model in the region and for many countries in a wider area.
On a daily basis, you risk your lives and health to ensure the safety and security of our citizens. The recent period revealed the facts of the high professionalism of our police officers, which we witnessed. And security, stability of our country and the protection of the rights of our citizens are safeguarded by your very merit. Your role in ensuring state order, enforcement of the law and justice is imperative. Your merit and qualification are recognized by the European institutions that, by the judicial precedents, evidence that the actions of the Georgian law-enforcement officers are in full compliance with the human rights protection requirements. Today, on a Police Day, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to all the police officers for their devotion and diligence in exercising their duty towards their families, children, Georgian society and the homeland.
Today, I bow to the police officers who sacrificed the most precious that a person may have – their lives to the homeland in the line of their duty. I would like to take advantage and thank the Interior Minister, Vakhtang Gomelauri for his efforts which result in evident outcomes – the police forces and each unit of the Ministry taking due care of the country and every citizen. We are extremely proud of you and I would like to extend my wishes of health and success to every policeman in your very responsible and difficult duty. I wish you dignity in wearing your uniform. Our state stands by your side”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.
